With public transport

The city is the responsible "local traffic authority" for the two city districts of Villingen and Schwenningen. The districts of Weigheim, Mühlhausen, Marbach, Rietheim, Pfaffenweiler, Herzogenweiler, Tannheim, Weilersbach and Obereschach are under the responsibility of the Schwarzwald-Baar-Kreis.

The city bus service in the city has some special features due to the double city structure, e.g.: 2 train stations, 2 bus stations. Schwenningen serves as an important stop for domestic and international long-distance bus traffic due to its more central location in the long-distance road network.
