A trip to Villingen-Schwenningen is always worthwhile - whether in sunshine or rain.
For culture enthusiasts, a visit to one of the numerous museums is recommended. The Franciscan Museum in Villingen houses the finds of the Celtic burial place Magdalenenberg. You can also experience the history of the town with all its facets - from the Villingen Fasnet to the industrialization of Schwenningen and the merger of the two districts. In addition to the permanent exhibitions, the Franciscan Museum also has a temporary exhibition. Admission to the permanent exhibition is free.
The Clock Industry Museum in Schwenningen lets you experience the development of the Schwenningen clock industry. Not only old machines and production facilities are shown, but also the life of the simple factory workers.
In the International Aviation Museum in the Schwenningen district, there are currently about 40 aircraft on display, including some that are still in flyable condition. Often the airplanes are exchanged, so there is a lot of variety.
There are also numerous leisure activities in the Schwenningen district that are independent of the weather. At the black light miniature golf there is a lot to see besides the sportive challenge. On 500 square meters, visitors can discover numerous 3D effects and murals. Apart from additional 3D glasses, the rules do not differ from "normal" minigolf.
The World of Bowling in Schwenningen is recommended for all ages. Whether for birthdays or family celebrations: hours of fun are guaranteed here. If you get hungry between rounds, you can order a snack in the restaurant belonging to the bowling alley.
Even when it rains, Villlingen-Schwenningen offers the opportunity to go swimming. In the Villingen indoor swimming pool or the Schwenninger Neckarbad you can swim your lanes comfortably in the swimmer pools and relax in the wellness area. For children there are non-swimmer and paddling pools.

The CineStar is located in the Schwenningen district and is the largest cinema in the twin city. On a total of 1,652 seats, cinema guests can expect the full film pleasure in seven halls and also take a dignified seat during the regular live broadcasts, for example from the Metropolitan Opera. All screens are so large that they form the fourth wall in the cinema auditorium, which in turn are well equipped with RealD 3D and digital projectors. The largest screen offers 144 m² of space for action-packed flicks, romantic love scenes or the really big blockbusters.
The BlueBoxx cinema is located in the Villingen district, in the immediate vicinity of the Neue Tonhalle. The latest films from Germany, Europe and all over the world are shown here. Every Monday and Tuesday is cinema day: then there is a reduced admission price for all cinema visitors. Part of the Blueboxx cinema is also the cosy bar "Oscars", where you can relax and enjoy the evening after the cinema experience.
In addition to the two large cinemas in Villingen-Schwenningen, several small cinemas also enrich the film offerings of the twin city.
The Capitol Cinema in Schwenningen does not show classic art house films. Only carefully selected films are shown here. The beautiful film theatre has 220 cinema seats and offers a varied film programme for every target group. A wide variety of events such as comedy, cabaret and cabaret also take place here regularly and keep cinema-goers glued to their seats.
The municipal cinema guckloch shows many German and European films, but also a wide variety of international films. Short films are also shown, which usually have no place in commercial cinemas. A special feature is the short introduction given by a member of staff before the screening begins. Here, cinema-goers learn interesting background information about the director and the people involved, as well as about the history of the film's making.

The Tennis and Squash Centre is located in the Villingen district and has six tennis courts and five squash courts. These are open all year round and can be reserved online in advance.
The appropriate tennis and squash equipment can be rented at the Pizzeria Pirata.
