Apply for equivalence of a qualification in accordance with the Hazardous Substances Ordinance

If you wish to have your previously acquired qualification in the field of hazardous substances recognised as equivalent to a certificate of competence, you must provide proof of equivalence to the competent authority.

Have you obtained a qualification in the field of hazardous substances that is comparable to a qualification in accordance with the Hazardous Substances Ordinance, for example through vocational training or further training? Then you can have this comparable qualification recognised as equivalent by the competent authority. You also have this option if you have acquired a corresponding qualification abroad. You must submit proof of recognition so that the competent authority can check whether your qualification can be recognised as equivalent.

Conditions

To recognise the equivalence of a qualification in accordance with the Hazardous Substances Ordinance, the following requirements must be met:

  • qualified training or further training that is comparable to the required expertise for the planned activities and uses
  • Proof of foreign qualifications in German

Process

After you have applied for the equivalence of a qualification in accordance with the Hazardous Substances Ordinance, the competent authority will review your application and, if necessary, request additional documents. The equivalence is confirmed by a certificate.
